Off to Melaka, tomorrow

Posted by rotidua at 02:20 AM on December 1, 2005.

Fuiyo..that was a long break from blogging. I’ve been blogging, mentally, everyday but couldn’t find the time to actually blog. Let’s see…

On Perdana and Penyamun.

Bang De’s Ratu Salun was robbed in broad daylight last Saturday. He, along with his 3 staff and 2 other customers were held at a knife-point. They were tide and locked in the facial room. Valuables such as gold chain, watch, mobile phones and cash were swiped clean. A singer’s boyfriend, who is also a customer, was wounded while trying to protect the singer.  The 3 penyamun fled with Bang De’s Perdana.

On Modblog Gathering, DEC18th

Errr…modblog who??

Najwa’s (and Ibu’s) new toy

 When I was a kid, my toys were green soldiers and those manga paper dolls  that you get to hang their clothes on the shoulders.  I remember building houses, bed and kitchen for the dolls using pieces of unwanted cloths that was lying around Mak’s sewing machine. So yeah… I’ve always wanted a doll house.

So when Teacher Shabra told us that Najwa got first place in her class, the most reasonable thing to do (according to me) apart from hugs and kisses, of course, is to get her a doll house!  Heheheh Ibu gets to play along too.

 We got her a Barbie Pop-up Family Fun. Before any of you judging us thinking that we are spending lavishly, please stop, THAT was the cheapest in the store, okay?

 Only thing is, it was after we reached home we discovered that Barbie is actually …pregnant! And she is carrying a BABY..inside her belly…inside her DETACHEABLE belly!  While in her womb, the baby is in foetal position with his head engaged. Patut la nama dia Pop-Up Family.

I think Mattel is waaaaay too creative on this one.

The next day when I reached home, Barbie’s belly is somewhere between Naim’s truck and towed cars. ishh.

Not sure if we can go to the MB gathering, yet

Family Day 2005

It went well, I suppose. Apart from the black out on the 2nd night, we have nothing major to complaint to Watercity Resort. 2nd night was entertaining and fun! We had Senario for about 45 minutes and the usual lucky draws. Among the Grand lucky draws are 4d/3n stay at Tanjung Rhu Resort, 43" Sony Projection TV, PS2, 29" Sony etc...guess what did i win?  heh heh heh none that was mentioned. *sigh*. But i got a Multi Cooker yah yah..not that lucky la, actually everyone in the Company (except the Directors and Consultants) gets to bring back something.

The supposedly emcee for the 2nd night, conviniently forgot to put on his contact lenses. I, was his replacement. Siut tul. Public speaking, PR, have never been my 'thing'. Geletar lutut.

Anyway, someone said "Nina, your husband is soooo young!" which make me wonder, does firhad look younger than me...or do i look OLDER than him.....hmmpphh not so encouraging thought.

Annual General Meeting 2005

You know that hotel, at Jln Ampang-Tun Razak juncture, the one with fofular karaoke? Never, Ever hold a formal function there, okay?

I have not attended many AGMs, in fact today is the 2nd AGM I ever attended in my life, so far (No, I am not a shareholder nor proxy). Surely, there are OTHER AGMs that ends less than 20 minutes, aren't there?

How many 'Azlina' do you know?

Posted by rotidua at 07:18 AM on December 12, 2005.

A Z L I N A

I have a common name. Yes. Its so common that each year, without fail there will be another 'Me' in my class. I guess back in the mid 70s, that name is as fofular as 'Danial' or 'Aiman' now.

There are also names close to mine with a change of 1 or 2 letters. For example; Azrina, Hazlina, Mazlina, Azliza and etc (you name it). Girls with names like me are usually called 'Ina' or 'Lina' or something like that. I am called 'Nina' by my family and relatives.

'Marlina' was my childhood friend (the only friend of same age, actually) who lived in the same street as my mother's house. Practically, I grew up with her. Our short name too, sounds similiar. Me - Nina, Marlina-Ina. Marlina's parents are from Jawa so to avoid confusion they refer Marlina as 'Ina Jawa'.

Because there is another Azlina in my class when I was is primary school, we were differentiated by our father's name. I was 'Azlina Zan' (sounds like Azlina-san) while the other was 'Azlina Sop' (from 'Yusof'). In secondary school, I was 'Ina Putih' while my best friend Hazlina was called 'Ina Merah' supposedly after our skin color. Some called me 'Aepong', from the word Tepung. No, I was not THAT fair..so happen that the other Ina was not. That's all.

Entered college life, and Allah je la yang Maha Mengetahui how many Azlinas or the likes around.

On my first day of work, my CIA (Chief Internal Auditor) told me that there is another Azlina in my team. He asked my Team Leader, Simon to sort out who is who. As the other Azlina was just 'Azlina', she gets to keep her full name. Did I tell you I have 'Noor' in front of my name? Simon thinks that 'Noor Azlina' is too long for him so he decided to call me 'Zan' after my father's name (*wink* to Zan). The other Azlina follow suit. She was called 'Hashim'.

The rest of the auditors/auditees however, usually inquired "Which Azlina? The one with tudung or without?". Of course all that have to change after I got married and started wearing hijab. So the question went like this "The married Azlina or the single Azlina?". Heh.

When I was courting with Firhad, he told me stories about his sisters. The Celeb, the Pearl Jam freak, the Martha Stuart, the Youngest and Adlina, his duplicate. So yes, another similiar name close to mine. Lucky thing, Adlina was not called 'Ina' or' Lina'.

In my current workplace, the other 'Azlina' has a longer name than mine. She has additional 'Wati' at the end.

BUT all the above is not the issue now. Remember, before Azlina, there's 'Noor'. It's not 'Nor' or 'Nur' or 'Knorr' ...it's NOOR. In Arab, yes, it will be the same Nun-wau-ro. Here in Malaysia, on my IC (Gaawwd I have yet to change to myKad!), it's spelled N O O R. I get particularly upset if they got my name wrongly. NOR AZLINA is wrong! Dangit! So dear people of the earth, repeat after me,

N-O-O-R  A-Z-L-I-N-A

Two words not one. Ade space bar ye.

And my father's name is Md Zan. No full stop or dot after Md , got it? It may seem like small keciput issue to some... but you can't claim your harta if your name is misspelt, the EPF will immediately reject your application, the Immigration may think you are a different person, your child may not belong to you (on paper), you won't be given your SPM result if they found out you are not YOU. So you see, a lot of things may have been affected due to spelling mistakes.

*Hmmpphh*

To conclude, today I could not bank-in my cheque like other staff in my company because of typo error. Sucks! And the signatories are going on long leave. Double sucks!.

With all those inteligent, friendly, one-stop banking facilities, I wonder why the Company still resort to cheque issuance. Salary, yes, credited direct into account. Other than that, cheque cheque cheque. Seronok agaknya tulis cheque (kalau perfect tu lain citer la) pastu bayar RM0.50 untuk setiap cheque.

Hmm.... let's see if I can squeeze in this area into my Audit Plan (and professionally make those related people misreable for their ignorances muhahahhaha).

Thirtay! Celebrating 3 decades of life

Posted by rotidua at 09:38 PM on December 19, 2005.

Not my cakeI am officially 30 years old. Am I happy? Yes, Sir. I am married, with 2 kids, good job, a place I called home and slowly recovering from financial woes. Oh and 1 more thing, I’ve got my first customer and already on the process of closing another deal, Insya Allah. Pray for me, aye. At the age of 30, I must say that I’ve got everything I could ever wish. A tiny minor small shortcoming on targeted number of kids though but what the heck, we can’t have it all, right PLUS we can always revise our plan.

Pre-birthday

 1.  Friday, 16DEC05. While trying to make next facial appointment;

Luminous-gred A-skin-lady behind the counter in a small town: Like you ah miss, must do 2 weeks once ya know.

Me: (Ooo…chronic sungguh masalah gue ni)

2.  Sunday, 18DEC05. While playing with 2 year old twin nieces;

One of my mom’s sister who loves chocolate and not kedekut to share: Ko nak anak lagi ke, Na? Kita kalau dah berumur nak beranak kecik lagi penat tau.

Me : Kita???

On my birthdayMonday, 19DEC05.

1.     While struggling to put on my favourite jeans.  Notice the word struggling? You know what, the jeans didn’t fit. Tak muat! The last time I wore it was about a week ago. The button finally gave up on my bulging tummy. Oh no! Tummy Trim where are you?

2.     At JPN, going with the flow. I thought I want to be different by not changing to MyKad. It’s not really a choice for me to make, huh? Anyway, after the third try, the registration officer (I’m assuming he’s an officer) said the reader could not read my right thumb.

The Officer: Tangan akak memang kedut ke?

Me : Huh?

The Officer: Tangan akak memang kedut ke?

Me : (Nak kene penampar mamat ni) Tak la. Kene sabun jadi cam ni la.

The Officer: Ooo, akak tak bley basuh pinggan la ye.

3.     Few minutes before 1pm, Firhad and the kids came to my office with a surprise birthday cake. Alahai… sayangnya!

=======================

Is there a checklist for us newly thirtay? No? Well, I think we should have one. We girls must share stuff, ya know. Remember Lynette of Desperate Housewives? So these are my list, for now:

  1. More vitamins. I have been neglecting EPO for some time. Must take something for the memory also. Nobody wants a nyanyuk rotidua. How’s Imedeen?

  1. Must E X E R C I SE.  (Can be substituted with new OSIM belt buster or something like that. Now on promotion at RM599. Hahahah)

  1. Stop going to ebay.com.my, woman!

  1. Get something for those fine wrinkles below both eyes.

  1. Anita Sarawak says, don’t forget to moisturise. kak nita

  1. Botox anyone? Hahahah (or something to that effect, from Jakarta?)

 ===================

I must go now. Have a presentation at Guoman, PD Resort this afternoon. Will be back tomorrow.

You take care. You know who YOU are, mister! hihihihih

PD trip and what nots

Posted by rotidua at 02:36 AM on December 23, 2005.

First thing, yes Guoman is a very nice place. I love the green grass especially. The food, the bread and the butter..oo the creamy butter! They have chocolate fountain too (Wohooo!), remind me so much of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Secondly, dirty unfiltered yellow water is not IN, okay. Never IN, actually. One couldn't tell if he has successfully flushed his yaknowwhat. Brushing teeth and washing your already-smeared-zitsful face wih yellow water can be quite depressing, dont you think? My colleague mentioned something about PD's plumbing system being the oldest in Malaysia, I thought the least that the hotel can do is to install one of those in-house water filteration system. Probably I'm asking too much, probably its the water that attracts omputeh to Guomon, I don't know.

==============

You know that Chineese New Year is around the corner when McD starts to sell Prosperity Burger.

==============

Munah told me early this morning that she wanted to pursue her study, full time. I gave her my best wishes and asked her to submit her letter soon so I can proceed to find her replacement (Ya Suraya, lepas ni dah takde citer Munah lagi).

==============

Naim is slowly adapting to school life. He wakes up every morning asking the same question "Ibu, hari ni Im school ke? Nape?". I guess the worst part for him is boarding the school van. He wailed his way to school, said Kakak. He wants Kakak on his side all the time. Kakak ends up doing all Naim's colouring works. Naim gets 3 stars for his writing. But you guess la, who did it for him.
